life skills

Phase I, life skills development, is dedicated to setting SMART goals, active listening, self-reflection, self-awareness, self-compassion, integrity, interpersonal skills, biopsychosociospiritual health, exercise, yoga and nutrition classes.

Phase I is composed of six pillars, each of which is the focus during one month of reflection classes. With the help of SALC, Thrivers are required to find an outside therapist with whom they work for the duration of the year. Thrivers are also paired with a mentor who is uniquely positioned to provide insight and additional guidance in their pursuit of a realistic, attainable entry-level job that matches their innate skill set.

SALC conducts a series of assessments and aptitude tests to determine each Thriver’s strengths, and encourage growth in those areas while building other necessary soft skills. Emotional intelligence is emphasized in Phase I, as it is the foundation upon which Phase II will begin.
